This author has really touched on the real world issue of "Emotional Intelligence". Refreshing to say the least. It's not always about your day planner, your killer instinct or your ivy league education; but rather how connected you are in your workplace. As a CEO of one of the fastest growing privately held software companies in the Northwest, I can attest that managements innability to empathise with eachother or the customer is sometimes like driving into a tunnel without the headlights on. Trust is key in effective decision making, and the best way to achieve that as Mr. Hill points out is by developing empathy and commitment. Patrick Lencioni's "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team" is a great follow up to this book.
