I, initially thought that after installing LED clusters for the front (running and turn signals) and the rear (running, brake and turn signals) would not need to use any kind of load equalizer in my '06 HD FXDI. I was able to re-calibrate the blinking rate following a procedure I found in the LED manufacturer's site. However, every time I would use either side turn signals, the security system would lock the electronic circuits. Not a big deal, because it could be restored (unlock) using the hazard lights, but after a few dozen turns it became annoying. I did not know, and still do not know the practical effect of riding a bike with the electronic safety circuit locked, but I was sure that it was NOT a good thing.I purchased this Custom Dynamics GEN2SSHD load equalizer, mainly for peace of mind, and it works just as it is supposed to work. I was told at the HD dealership that newer bikes DON’T need a load equalizer for LED lights. The installation was not difficult at all, just removed the seat, and pull out a bit of spaghetti of wires I have because of a few extras, including a few relays for an air horn and additional rear lights, two or three fuse holders, and a module to convert rear turn signals to running, brake and turn signal lights. This load equalizer comes with the right connectors for your bike (beware that there are about six or seven different versions, mainly because of connectors). At first, after installing it, didn't work because instructions said installing it first next to the fender side going to the lights, but because I have the converter module for the rear turn signal lights, I then interpreted ‘first’ BEFORE the converter module, leaving this load equalizer first, then the converter module to the connector going to the rear fender. The CS load equalizer has a little switch on the side, which I left it at NORMAL.A bit of a challenge was to re-accommodate all the spaghetti back under the seat, nothing to do with the product, but with a bit of patience and a few attempts moving things around, it fit decently well. It helps that this load equalizer is not too big and it is fairly thin, compared with other options that are bulkier. The length of the wiring allows to move it around without re-arranging the connectors.Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. Every time I turn on a signal light, I know this little thing is doing its job.
