The BoxWave Smart Back Cover covers the back of the iPad so you do not have to worry about setting it down. It is designed to cover the corners of your iPad and the column switch side. The volume switch also has a generous opening making it easy to adjust.The case protrudes over the screen estimated .7 mm and this is enough to keep the screen off the table top when setting it screen down. Even the exposed ends are protected due to the thickness of the case itself on the corners. No, the case will not protect it from striking the corner of a table but as long as the two corners are touch the surface first, the edge of the iPad screen will not touch the surface. Being Mr. Butterfingers, I will update my review if I find I am hitting the exposed edge.The case is crystal clear so it almost becomes invisible, showing the beauty of the iPad. Even when looking at this screen it is almost invisible. The downside to hard plastic cases is that they seem to scratch easily. I will update my review after using it for a couple of weeks if there is major scratching.The cut outdoor the Apple Cover is more than generous, in fact, there is an extra quarter inch between the cover and case on the back.Should you buy this case? If you want to show off you iPad then Yes! If you are concerned about dropping your iPad so that the two exposed sides could fall on the corner of a table, then maybe it is not the case for you.6 month update: Now I see why most of the iPad cases are frosted. The attached picture shows the back after 6 month. You can see the large scratches, but the smaller ones are not visible. It is around 7-% frosted from scratches. The color still shows through and the logo is visible, just not clearly any more. I can see now that to make a clear case that would not scratch it would be an expensive process. For the price, this case is working fine; just plan on it turning into a frosted case.The case still fits the iPad tight and the corner corner protection withstood several drops. As with all cases in this design, it lets some dirt underneath the case. No scratches from that, but you will have to clean it.
