From the Manufacturer When meteors began to fall on the Earth in the mid-1950s, no one could have imagined that they were not rocks from space but the vanguard of an invasion from another world. This pre-built model kit recreates the Martian from George Pal's classic 1953 film, The War of the Worlds. Taken from images from Paramount's original studio prop, this model comes with 2 sets of arms for multiple posing options, and it stands atop a detailed film logo display base.

It is obvious that a lot of care and attention to detail went into this model/figurine. Honestly, it creeps me out a little bit every time I sit down at my desk to do work. (Put it behind a lamp.... the glassy RGB eye really comes into it's own and also simulates the effect bright light had on the Martian in the 1953 War of the Worlds. It comes with several accessories, including a base, two books (very small models that sit at the feet of our martian), extra arms to customize it to your preference, and the infamous Martian camera snake head. In the picture attached, I only used the Martian and the Snake Head.Truthfully, I couldn't take a photo that really does it justice, but that is the best I got. It's true complexion is less pinkish and a bit more "Martian Orangish Red." I think the photo used by the seller that appears when you first look up the item is more accurate in terms of how it will look when you see it. But it will depend on your lighting. As long as you are willing to spend the money (I figure it neither too expensive nor inexpensive - it's just about right), and IF you are a fan of the 1953 original, I say go for it.As an ETA, if you HAVEN'T seen the 1953 version of War of the Worlds, your are depriving yourself of a great experience. Is it campy at times? Yes, but only slightly. It is a product of it's times. And truthfully, the dialogue and interactions amongst the characters is a bit of fresh air, even if contrived and convoluted. Are the special effects on par with modern CG, of course not... They ones in this 1953 production are way better. (Something got lost between the transition from traditional special effects and modern CG). Although, the most recent rendition with Tom Cruise has awesome and congruent use of CGI. But that is the exception that proves the rule.Does this film take it's time to develop the story for people how aren't disabled by an attention span of a highly caffeinated ferret? Thankfully, YES! And paradoxically it doesn't demand two hours. In short, watch the movie.ETA: I've had this little guy for many weeks now, and I am firmly convinced he is, in fact, inoculated. He won't tucker out on you as I feared, considering what, to him, is an alien atmosphere.
