It was easy to get set up to get started. I use a flat trash can lid to weigh hay for the horses. place the lid and turn on. The scale automatically sets itself to 0. The screen is easy to read. It's easy to set the parameters. The only negative I had was the lid overhung the screen making it difficult to read. I simply put the box on the scale before placing the lid to create a greater space. Problem solved. This scale is fantastic. Better than I expected. Also, I'm glad "C" size batteries were sent along allowing me to get started quicker. Installation was easy as the screw to open the battery compartment was finger simple. I did not need to find a screwdriver.
