I needed to track my animal's weight and got tired of running to the vet's office. This was reasonable enough to make the investment. I have a blue heeler and she fits fine although it's a bit of a challenge to get four paws on the platform and stay still for a beat. I did glue some of that tacky/spongy drawer liner material to the surface because it is slick and she was struggling with it. That liner helps a lot and was an option for a much higher priced scale. But the DIY liner works well.
