The Rainbird ESP-SMT4 is the ultimate addition to your home automation collection. It is definitely marketed to contractors as the instruction manual is geared to professional installers, however I found it rather simple to understand and was able to change my old Toro unit out in about 1 hour. This unit comes with a bucket-style rain gauge and will sense weather conditions and automatically program itself based on ambient temperature, evaporation rates, rainfall, and grass-type to keep your lawn soil moisture at a constant level during all seasons. Well worth it.
