Installed it on door between garage and kitchen. The theory is if someone follows my wife or otherwise tries to access the house via an open garage door, this "people door" is now basically always locked (vs always unlocked as before). I expected it to be one piece with or same material as the included strike plate. this is an opinion not a deal breakerthe auto lock feature was not very intuitive to me , totally could be my fault. I could not set it so every-time i went to close the door it would be like i was slamming it since the latch bolt was not engaged. when the door is locked the handle just freely moves but doesn’t engage the latch bolt. After a few tries I realized i should unlock the door than i can move the handle normally. let it lock automatically - otherwise i would always just be hitting the strike plate. could be on me so still giving 5 starsI bought this product after online reviews indicated this model worked very well with reading the fingerprint easily and reliably. This has not been my experience. After initial setup, the reader was problematic, so I reset it and carefully set it up again. I have two users set up, and it is the same for both. During setup, it easily confirmed that the operation was successful. However, using the lock takes often 3 to 4 tries before recognizing the fingerprint, and has never responded on the first try.The lock works well, install was simple and straightforward, and the setup was easy to perform. Now, if it worked reliably actually reading the fingerprint, it would be a five-star review. As it is now, it is not a simple pass through as it was expected to be.I don't why anyone would have any problems with this. I read a review that stated a locksmith couldn't install it because he was unable to understand the instructions. FYI don't hire that locksmith. It's so easy to install you don't need instructions. In comparison it was more difficult to write this review than to install the Fingerprint door knob.I replaced my bedroom door knob with this one. My install time was less than 15 min because I took my time so as not to scratch it. I do recommend watching the video if you're mechanically challenged.I've had this unit installed for 24hrs now. My only gripe is the fingerprint reader is not as good as the one on my phone, but it works fine.If I have any problems in the future I'll update my review.I have one on my homes office and added another one to an upstairs master closet. Great for keeping little ones out of rooms they don't belong in. The voice prompts are slightly broken english, but understandable. For example, when you unlock the door the knob reports "The door is always open." When the door gets locked, it states "The door has been closed." Haven't had to charge it yet and i've had it for a few months with daily usage. Fingerprint reader is adequate, but not as good as i've come to expect from smart phone fingerprint readers.Honestly I was hesitant to get this products, reviews are pretty mixed, however I saw “Smart Home Solver” on YouTube do an unsponsored review and discuss some of the issues that were brought up on the Amazon reviews, and I trust him, so got it.Couldn’t agree more, this product works great! Reliable, easy to install, does exactly what we need it to do, now my office can be kept off limits from the kids, but my wife and I can go in and out conveniently without having to search for a key. 100% recommend.I had an issue with my three boys coming into my room EARLY in the morning asking for unnecessary things without knocking. It became too much so I decided to purchase this door lock. This was the best purchase so far this year for the home. Hopefully it lasts. It's very sturdy and has a little weight to it. Will buy again when I set up my hobby room.Wish it worked with HomeKit. But it is good for not needing Wi-FiEDIT: I was sent a handle at no charge for all the trouble with the first defective unit. Amazing after sales service and the handle is working as expected.Original review:I was ridiculously excited for this handle. When it arrived at the packaging was actually quite nice for something so inexpensive. The fingerprint was easy to learn. However, I was sent a defective unit which Tech Support confirmed was a bad run of motors inside. essentially, the main issue was the lock functioned opposite of what it needed to be. It would lock on the fingerprint and say it was unlocked. The key would cease to manually override. had I had not tested the handle first I would have been locked out of my place. to make matters worse, it cost me $29 in postage to return to Amazon and was only compensated back for 14.99. I was sent an item that was never going to work from the factory and yet I lost money returning it. honestly supremely disappointed with the experience and I buy items on Amazon daily. I wanted to like the item, especially with such great reviews however, I cannot lie and say my experience was good in this case because I had something that could have been a major problem.I was excited to give this a try on one of our storage room doors. However, I was disappointed to find out that first the latch has a plate that is not removable and requires the door to already be machined with a plate. I could have routed this out, but I didn't want to be hassled with an additional project. On top of that, the latch barrel is much smaller than the existing hole so it wouldn't fit properly. Would have been nice to have additional options so will be sending this one back and looking for another option.Got this finger reading door know to keep the teen out of the master bedroom where the snacks are kept because he kept using them as meal replacements.
