We bought a few of the 1000g version of this balance for our classrooms. They're about what you might expect for the cost, so I'm only docking one star. Not exemplary, but just realize that at this price, you're only paying for bare-bones functionality. For our purposes in introductory level science classes, they are adequate.There are a few things to be aware of. First, the thumb-screw leveling feet are very... interesting. Instead of the usual two adjustable feet, all FOUR of the feet are adjustable, and they are EXTREMELY loose. Together, these factors are both a benefit and a curse. It's helpful because with four adjustable feet, you can very quickly dial in the balance to be level. However, BECAUSE of the many points of adjustment, and the lack of any resistance to turning, it's sometimes easy for students to create a situation where the unit is slightly off-kilter and wobbles when loaded. In these situations, you'll have to readjust the "floating" feet back down, so they are flush with the lab bench or table.I must also mention the draft hood. It's flimsy, feels like it's made of polystyrene, and it must be assembled yourself. I am fine with this. However, the main issue with the hood is that it's very wobbly. Its base just won't lay perfectly flush with the chassis of the balance. Ultimately this does not affect its function, but it is quite annoying.Some positive aspects. Despite their light weight, these balances seem to be relatively stable. Despite their lack of inertial damping, we haven't had issues with vibrations affecting weighing. They are also quick to reach a stable reading. It's also nice that a calibration weight was included, although we haven't tested it against our more expensive calibration weights. For our purposes though, it is adequate.In this review, I am taking the price into great consideration. The materials are cheap, and the fit & finish are very lacking. You are most definitely NOT getting Mettler-Toledo quality here, but at this price point, you shouldn't expect to. This balance fundamentally delivers what it's supposed to, despite the flaws it suffers from due to cost-cutting. And, it still works as it should, after two semesters of light use. The balance (like the other one which has a larger 5kg capacity) is a great size for tabletop use and the display screen is large and easy to read. The balance is easy to calibrate and comes with a calibration weight. I am very impressed with GoldenWall's customer service. The balance shipped quickly and arrived in great condition. I have contacted them multiple times with questions and they have always responded in less than 24 hours. Each correspondence is professional, friendly and of course knowledgeable. They have resolved each and every question or issue we had. That is excellent customer services! Our company has purchased two balances from them in the past 3 months and we will be buying our next balance from GoldenWall as well. The customer service from GoldenWall is outstanding and that is something which is very important to me when dealing with a vendor. I recommend GoldenWall and their balances.Need to glue the dust cover together so it doesn't spontaneously disassemble. Performed the 1-point calibration per the manual instructions, and then did a tare weight calibration. That calibration drifted a few .1 mg over time, and a few .01mg in a few minutes. I don't need to have that precise a measurement for this scale so I am happy with it.Daughter is using for chemistry. I use to weigh out very small medication dosing for dogs. This is an excellent home quantity scale. I used to work in a lab- this has a very similar in construction to the high end scales we used. This is a bonus if you want to provide your student some experience with equipment that is similar to a high end quality controlled chemical laboratory in form on a home quality basis.AVOID!!! The balance screen freezes frequently. JUNK!We weight liquids to filing bottles in a cleanroom, this scale freezes midway through adding liquids. Completely useless as a scale.We have $15 scales that perform better and have been dependable for years.While this may be accurate and able to handle up to 5kg, its completely worthless if its unable to display current weight.WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN. Buy any other scale except this one.Unfortunately I am 2 days beyond the return window as we had to update a bunch of our SOP's & GMPs prior to using this scale in our cleanroom. Our paperwork process took 2 days too long and now we are stuck with this POS scale that we cannot use.We have wasted hours of work and thousands in product by our continuous attempts to make this scale work. While we purchased poor performing products or amazing products, they just were not worth the effort to review. HOWEVER, this scale is worth the time to review. Beyond the actual product cost, it also cost us $1,000++ more in lost wages and product by trying to use this POS. DO NOT BUY!!!The unit functioned properly for ~6 months, upon failure, I contacted customer service and received a replacement under warranty within a week. Great support!Seems to be very accurate.Only one issue so far. I measure fairly small increments. When I use the tare and set to zero, I don't get a reading until the scale reaches .08 grams. After that it reads .01 increments as I add weight. That problem does not occur if there is a reading on the scale. So if i want to get .04 grams for example, I don't use the tare for that measurement. I just leave the previous measurement and add to the needed weight.The wind screen is very flimsy and awkward. I just tossed it.But overall I am very satisfied.Excellent piece of equipment. Easy to set up and use. Most importantly it is accurate and stable in use over long periods. Extremely happy with the purchaseAvevo già acquistato in passato questa bilancia. Me ne serviva un’altro per la mia pasticceria, così, lo scorso mese ne ho acquistato un’altro su Amazon. Questa è l’unica bilancia di precisione così piccola che arriva a pesare fino a 5 kg ed è tanto precisa che va addirittura a pesare anche i mezzi grammi... per la prima bilancia, avevo pagato sui €150. Per questa volta €95... solo che ha avuto un piccolo problema con il cavo che viene fornito in dotazione.. quella EU non funzionava. Quello britannico si.. così avevo chiesto gentilmente al fornitore se me ne forniva un’altro senza dover usare troppi adattatori... quindi, il venditore mi fornisce un’altra presa gratuita... solo che, purtroppo mi è capitata una bilancia “no”, che si spegneva proprio mentre si pesa... il problema non è riuscito a risolversi nemmeno con un cambio di cavo (pensando che era quello il difetto)... allorché il venditore, senza aspettare altro tempo, mi rispedisce un’altra bilancia in sostituzione di questa difettata.. sono senza parole per la cortesia ed efficienza fornitomi... per ora la nuova bilancia non presenta alcun tipo di problema.. promosso!Se ve que está hecha con buenos materiales. Muy fácil el set up como viene buen explicado en el manual. Muy exactas las mediciones (la puse a prueba con varios pesos conocidos) y para gramajes más pequeños es muy reproducible la medición (no hay variación considerable entre medición y medición). Se pesi da 0,1 a 0,2 mettendo goccia a goccia NON rileva la pesata....se invece sei rapido fa la pesata anche se NON precisa. Please fix this I am Not that Happy about that. But I can tare it and weigh out powders. I would give 1 extra star if the company fixes the problem. However, it seems to be portable and quite accurate Pricy but a good scale.
