Starting from the installation, this lock isn't exactly for the faint of heart. It requires that you drill a hole through the door. This hole is used for the power cable and securing the top of the lock to the door. In a one-size-fits-all attempt, the hole can be drilled anywhere in roughly a three-inch space. I honestly was left wondering... WHY? The lock itself is a fixed size. Allowing the top brace to be slid is needless engineering, as nothing can be in the way. If something were in the way, simply put, the lock wouldn't work.This sliding brace presents the first problem. To mount the lock and have it sit flush against the door, the power cable needs to be slid into a channel. This same channel, precisely the size of the cable, also is intended to be home to the sliding brace. Borrow a third arm for the procedure, you'll need it. Make that four hands, due to the rubber water proofing seals refusing to stay in place.Once mounted, the lock looks fantastic! The features are impressive to list as well! You can unlock via pin, RF card, biometrics, or the app. Each works to some varying degree.RF: Included in the box were three keyfobs, these were easily programmed via the app and worked flawlessly every time. I was unable to program fobs that were not shipped with the kit. I suspect most are not ordering this lock for the RF feature.PIN: Programming a pin through the app is easy. User management is intuitive! The keypad is unresponsive. Sometimes when touched it doesn't wake, and sometimes it's on a delay. The door does always open once the pin is entered, but it may take a few tries.Fingerprint: When giving my wife access, It took at least ten tries to program her thumb. The lock seems to require that the thumb is held straight up and down against the sensor. Not laterally as would be intuitive with your hand on the handle. Once programmed it often takes two or three reads for the fingerprint to work. I have yet to be able to program my won.Ap: It simply works.The build quality is low. Screws are light, aluminum perhaps, and some edges are not smooth across the entire device. The rubber seals could have been fit more cleanly and secured. I would have liked to see better engineering on the upper mount and cleaner cable management.If you need a lock to keep someone out of a room, a room that you have time for failure in accessing, this might be a solid choice. I would not recommend it as primary security for your house, both because of the build quality, and it's unreliability.Finally, this device is not Alexa ready. It requires the purchase of an additional device to do so.The finger print reader only works for 2 monthsThe hole that needs to be drilled needs to be fairly large enough to hold the cable inside. 1/2 inch hole maybe, 1 inch width ideal.Also screwed in the top to hold casing tight to door on inside house side, not sure supposed to, there is a hole in plastic so maybe, it worked good and is hidden once installed. Once on I downloaded the app and the rest was as easy as pushing buttons on app. fingerprint works good, IC Cards work good, and set code works good. No idea where the two keys go that came with it. Wife did not like the talkin sound which was easy to turn off with App.Love it so far. Looks very upscale, for less than $125. I could see buying another one for my other outside door since looks good and ease of use.I was looking for something like this for a while. The fingerprint reader, NFC cards, and key code functions all work great and are easy to set up. The lock itself is also pretty easy to install. One note: when installing, it might seem counter-intuitive that when you set the square pin in the lock mechanism, it seems to rotate freely. That’s because the lock needs power to switch to “unlock” and engage with the lock to open the door. This makes sense. If the doorknob loses power, it will simply remain locked (so make sure you replace batteries often).We plan on buying another for our separate unit that we use for an AirBnB. You can set up temporary passcodes to make that easy for guests. Needed extra RFIC card and I contacted the company to send a few copies. Will definitely purchase again and will tell others as wellCan’t even add a fingerprint I go through the steps it asked me to put my finger on the sensor it works then it says to put my finger on the sensor again and then nothing and then the operation fails i’ve tried with different people and many timesWorks okay on warm days but when it gets a bit colder, under 21 degress (71F) it takes a while to wake it up.
