Cooking is my hobby; while I don't get to really cook as often as I'd like, when I do I want to use the best ingredients and tools that I can afford on a grad student budget.Pies are one of my specialties, and until this week I'd used the old two-knife method for cutting shortening and butter into the flour crust mixture. Having been asked to make all the pies for a massive Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to splurge and purchase this pastry blender. I had one in the past, but it was incredibly cheap; the thing got so bent up after two or three uses that it had to be chucked. I have not, however, been disappointed in this blender. I "christened" it with a triple batch of pie dough this morning, and was extremely pleased with the comfortable handle and the sharp blades. Five stars! I'd definitely buy it again, though I don't anticipate having to do so for quite some time.
