This RODOT wireless switch is currently a bargain at $15. It's a WiFi controlled switch that pairs almost instantly with Smart Life or Tuya because it has a bluetooth beacon for setup. It's a robust switch that lets you use Alexa or Google to turn something on or off. The settings on the app allow you to choose what the switch does when the power goes out. You can have the switch stay off, come on, or resume the last known state. I like that since lots of times I want the item to stay off.The difference here from the standard RODOT switch is the 433 Mhz remote. That feature means this switch is slightly larger than their standard switch and comes with a bulky remote. The remote takes a tiny 12 volt A23 battery. It's a common battery for remotes and while it isn't included in the package, it's not hard to find at a pharmacy or big box store.The instructions aren't terribly clear on how to get the remote to work so I'll describe it some here:There are three modes you can use with the remote. Momentary, Toggle and Latching. In momentary mode, the switch will turn on only while you are holding down the remote button. When you let the button go the switch turns off again. In Toggle you assign one button on the remote to change the state of the switch. If it's ON the button will turn it OFF and vice versa. I used Latching mode. In this mode you assign one button for ON and one button for OFF.First clear the switch of any learned remotes by pressing the one and only button on the switch 8 times. There's a bit of a red LED visible inside the switch. If you see it blink and then blink a couple more times the clear function is done. It only takes a few seconds.To set the switch into latching mode, press the button on the switch 3 times. The red led will come on. Press first the button you want for ON (A for instance). The red led will blink and then come back on. press the button you want for OFF (B in this case) and the red led will go out. That's it. It might take a few tries.To use the other modes you press the button on the switch 1 time to enter the momentary mode or 2 times for toggle. This works after you clear the learned remotes with 8 presses of the button.The remote works from across my house, even with the antenna not extended. I plan to get some other 433 Mhz remotes that work on key chains as this one is rather large.The Smart Life App will let you take action on these 433 Mhz button presses but I prefer to do things on Alexa. When this remote controlled switch is turned on, Alexa can turn on some other devices or start timers and then do things, say stuff, open things, etc. I find this a good solution to starting some home automations when I'm still outside the house. I don't want to be yelling at Alexa from outside my front door. My neighbors already think I'm off.For the DIY Techie types, this is a Tuya WB2S and has no programming header.
